Crimson Peak Full Movie

Edith Cushing is the daughter of self-made industrialist, Carter Cushing. As a child she has a terrifying encounter with the ghost of her mother. The ghost whispers a warning: "Beware of Crimson Peak."

As a young woman, Edith writes about the ghosts she sees, but is pressured into writing about romance as it is expected of her gender. Her efforts catches the eye of a visiting aristocrat, Sir Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston), who seeks funding for an invention of his from Edith's father. Being wary of aristocracy, Carter turns Sharpe away. Thomas charms Edith and she begins a romance with him, while her childhood friend, Dr. Alan McMichael, watches on.

Carter, not trusting the Sharpes, hires a private detective to investigate them; he then blackmails the siblings with what he has learned, telling them to leave immediately. He also orders Thomas to break Edith's heart so she will not follow, which he does. However, the next day he sends a note telling her the truth, saying he plans to return for her when he can.

Carter is later found dead, his skull crushed in. Edith seeks solace in her romance with Thomas, who gently persuades her to leave New York for his own home. Edith agrees and they leave for England, and are married. McMichael is wary of this arrangement and later makes his own way to England.

The couple arrives at Allerdale Hall, the crumbling mansion that is the Sharpe family home. It is also called Crimson Peak due to the red clay it is built on, though Edith does not know this. There, she meets Lucille Sharpe, Thomas' older sister, who is cold and cruel to Edith. She denies Edith a copy of the keys to the rooms of the house. Edith is once again visited by the spirit of her mother, who offers the same warning: "Beware of Crimson Peak."

Edith is visited by more ghosts, which terrifies her. In hopes of calming her, Thomas takes her to the post office (a several hour trip), but a snow storm stops them from returning and they stay at the office in an extra room; there, the two passionately consummate their marriage. The next morning, Lucille can barely contain her rage at the two for not returning the previous night.

As Edith asks more about the house and the family, more ghosts appear and beckon her to the mines below. Despite warnings from her husband, Edith ventures into the attic, where the two siblings were kept by their abusive parents. She then goes to the rendering vats below, where the decaying corpse of Thomas's last victim is revealed.

It is revealed that Thomas and Lucille have been running a con of sorts. Thomas marries a wealthy young woman, Lucille kills the patriach of her family, the wife goes to Cumbria and the siblings poison her and use the bride's inheritance to fund Thomas's inventive efforts (the findings from the private detective where that of Thomas' previous marriages). Furthermore, Thomas has an incestuous relationship with his sister, who seduced him at a young age. Lucille swore that they would "never be apart," and killed their mother when she discovered their relationship. Left with the cursed manor, the siblings began the plots of marriage and murder. However, this time, Sir Thomas has truly fallen in love with his Edith. As such, he cannot bring himself to murder her. Insane with jealousy and greed, Lucille loses her restraint and decides to kill Edith.

McMichael arrives to take Edith back to New York, only to be wounded by a knife-wielding Lucille; she tells Thomas to "get his hands dirty" and finish him off, but Thomas quietly asks McMichael where to stab him for a non-fatal wound, and then hides him near the rendering vats. Realizing that his wife is in mortal danger, Thomas helps Edith escape and is killed by Lucille in the process. Enraged, Edith strikes back with a butcher knife. The two women battle; Lucille does considerable damage, but Edith kills her with the help of Thomas in his ghost form. The two share a longing goodbye as he departs from her world. Edith rescues McMichael and they escape to a nearby city. The film shows the ghost of Lucille Sharpe who now haunts Crimson Peak. She continues to play the piano, hate in her eyes.
